Is your skin ready for Spring? 3 ways to glow all season long.
It’s never too early to get excited about Spring. The promise of longer, sun-filled days… flowers in full bloom… wearing comfy sandals (adios, bulky boots!) is more than enough to make our hearts flutter.
With Spring right around the corner, now’s the time to prep your skin and refresh your beauty routine. Here are 3 ways to welcome spring and get your skin glowing all season long.
01 | A Clean Slate
Spring cleaning means tossing out old, expired lotions and creams, and getting your skincare tools clean and in check. Hard-to-see dirt and bacteria (ugh) accumulate on brushes, puffs, cloths, and sponges. Keep germs at bay and away from skin by washing tools with a gentle, sulfate and paraben free cleanser and lay them flat to dry.
Just a thought, when was the last time you cleaned your glasses, sunglasses, phone or anything else that touches your face?
02 | Buff Winter Away
Unclog pores and remove a winter’s worth of dead skin cells. Rev up skin cell turnover by treating yourself to a skin type appropriate facial. Need some at home ideas? A DIY sugar scrub (recipe below) is a great way to exfoliate gently while pampering your skin. Sugar is a natural source of glycolic acid and also a natural humectant!
As an extra treat, use a hydrating mask 2-3 x’s a week to keep skin looking fresh and dewy.
03 | Spring Up Your Skin Care
Once warmer temps hit, it’s a good idea to think about your moisturizer. Look for lightweight yet nourishing, antioxidant-packed ingredients. For a potent, botanically derived hydrating cream try Z Natural Life's Intensive Rejuvenating Cream (also available on Amazon). It is rich in youth boosting benefits and packed with ingredients that rejuvenate and replenish (i.e. sweet almond oil, cassava extract, rosehip oil and sea buckthorn oil). It will visibly smooth fine lines and wrinkles and help maintain a youthful, radiant look for the new season and beyond.
Finally, remember to drink water! Spruce it up with mint, citrus wedges, or strawberry slices for a refreshing twist. Drinking water flushes toxins from the body and helps keep skin from getting dry and flakey.
So rethink your skincare, rev up your beauty routine, and get glowing for Spring!
¼ Cup Oil*
½ Cup Sugar
15-20 drops Essential Oil (optional)**
* For this scrub we prefer avocado oil because it is highly moisturizing and it is high in omega fatty acids, vitamins A, E, D and amino acids. However, many types of oils can be used based on your skin’s needs (i.e. jojoba, olive, almond).
** For this recipe, we use lavender essential oil for a relaxing experience. Other essential oils can also be used if your skin has different needs.
